Ravelli’s inspiration at “Fishes”
His table in restaurant “It Rains Fishes” is near the pillar on the sea side, where author Ravelli has been enjoying his favorite dishes for years and usually takes notes for a new novel in between.
The “De Vliegenvanger” (the Flycatcher) trilogy was mostly realized on Bonaire. In the evenings, Ravelli sat in “It Rains Fishes” with a notebook, creating chapters for his books.
And this writer still makes his appearance at least twice a week in Bonaire’s most famous restaurant.
After a Spanish Coffee, I place a comma and finish the sentence and then the chapter, at home – on the green-lined terrace, with the rustling sea and a shaky table lamp as subdued company.
Surrounded by the hospitality and cordiality of the waiting staff and by the regular refill of red wine, the words flow naturally from his pen.
“The Flycatcher – Collector Of Forbidden Loves” and “Scapa – Echo Of A Hidden Past” are still available. If you are lucky, there are still signed copies for sale at “It Rains Fishes”.
